Hello we hope that June has been a good month for you and that this email finds you well?

Focus on… Tasty Lancashire

This is the flagship cheese in our traditional range. A mature, strong Lancashire, Tasty has a slightly open, creamy texture balanced with a rich meaty tang. Very complex in taste, it is hand made at Inglewhite and each cheese is carefully clothbound before maturing for up to 12 months to allow the full flavour to develop.

You can find Tasty Lancashire in Tesco, Booths, Asda and M&S as well as on the deli at Sainsbury’s.

Most Tasty Lancashire eaters love the taste and texture, enjoying it “neat” or very simply with their favourite crackers, fresh bread, melted on toast or with an apple.  Due to the ease at which Tasty melts coupled with its crumbly texture, you can also enjoy the fabulous flavour when it is:

* grilled over the top of a chicken breast with a slice of bacon

* crumbled into casseroles just before serving
* melted with onions on a flatbread
* melted in tomato soup – give it a go!
Should it be Tasty?
The name dates back a good number of years but is it the right one now? What does it mean to you? Does it convey the maturity and character of this cheese? Is there a better name for this cheese? Please do let us know your thoughts by replying to this email – we would love to hear from you!
Butlers goes Japanese
Keeping up with the times, three generations of the Butler family along with the rest of the team joined Himanshu, a Lancashire University placement student, for his leaving “do” in a local Japanese restaurant. Jean and Tom Butler forfeited their usual cheese rich supper for the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

Himanshu is pictured here with Tom and Jean Butler and their daughter Gillian (Hall).

NEW Fresh Spreadable Goats Cheese in M&S

June saw the launch of a new goats cheese made by Butlers for the Marks and Spencer label. Spreadable Goats Cheese is sold in a little tub, just as the French do and is perfect for those impulsive snacking moments teamed with oatcakes, fresh bread or your favourite crackers. Many chefs also use it in cooking (we sell it to them in one litre tubs!).  Very light for a goats cheese with an incredibly fresh creamy taste, the cheese is freshly made by hand at our Ravens Oak Dairy, to our usual exacting standards. Do let us know what you think!

The awards are piling in!
It’s great winning prizes for doing what we love and we’ve certainly had a good start to the season. So far, three cheese shows have passed, adding 14 awards to our list, most notably:

Two GOLDS and a SILVER for Creamy Lancashire at the Bath and West Show, Royal Highland Show and Cheshire Show

GOLD (best blue cheese) for Blacksticks Blue at the Cheshire Show

The big NANTWICH cheese show is almost upon us. Previously a Butlers man, we team up with Bob Kitching to put on cheese making demonstrations at Nantwich, so do come and say hi if you are at the show.

And finally...take a look at a great new page on our website - your favourite ways to eat Blacksticks, designed by you and your ideas! Feel free to give us more inspiration for Blacksticks or any of our cheeses...
If you get a moment, please do tell us what you think of our cheeses, only then can we make things even better!
