We recently received an email from Ginkos Sushi which really caught our attention as it detailed how they had made Blacksticks Blue sushi – which is apparently delicious!
So if you’re looking for an alternative way to enjoy your favourite cheese or want to try sushi with a taste of the unexpected then this is what you do:
Start with a very simple cucumber and ume (plum) paste norimaki (rolled sushi that has the nori on the outside) but also add a nice soft line of Blacksticks blue along the cucumber before rolling up and cutting.
The nice people from Ginkos finished the email by saying: perhaps blue cheeses possess something similar to Japanese umami (the sixth taste) and that this is the reason that Blacksticks Blue in particular tastes so nice.
